Job summary

Retina Consultants of Texas seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to document patient history, summarize medical data, and perform preliminary ocular examinations. The role ensures smooth patient flow and clear appointment communications in the Kingwood Clinic, with travel to other clinics as needed.

The position supports clinic hours 6:30am–6:30pm, Monday–Friday, and requires ability to work with state-of-the-art retina imaging equipment and collaborate with a team of physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• One to two years' ophthalmic assistant experience preferred.
• Ophthalmic assistant certification preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• HIPAA training/understanding required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history including chief complaint and ocular/general medical history.
• Accurately perform and document visual acuity, fields, motility, pupillary tests, dilation, and tonometry.
• Provide compassionate patient care throughout the clinic flow.
• Perform opening/closing duties; inventory, prepping medications, sterile instruments.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock in exam/procedure rooms.
• Back-up ophthalmic photographer support for OCTs.
• Reschedule no-show patients and maintain smooth patient flow.
