Job summary

Retina Consultants of Texas is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our Beaumont Clinic. The role involves accurate documentation, summarizing patient histories, and performing preliminary ocular examinations while maintaining patient flow and communication with clinic staff.

Candidates must be able to travel to various clinics and support clinic hours Monday through Friday 6:30am–6:30pm, with potential weekend hours. We offer competitive benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• Capable of comprehensive patient workups and documentation.
• Ability to educate patients on eye drops and treatment plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
• Team player with proficiency in multiple computer systems.
• Trained in HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history including chief complaint and ocular/general history.
• Perform and document visual acuity, fields, motility, pupillary tests, dilation, and tonometry.
• Maintain patient flow and communicate appointment status to patients and managers.
• Open/close duties; inventory, prep medications, sterile instruments.
• Maintain exam and procedure rooms cleanliness; stock as needed.
• Provide back-up to ophthalmic photographer performing OCTs.
• Reschedule no-shows and ensure smooth flow to physician.
• Troubleshoot equipment as necessary; projector, tonopen, autoclave.
• Occasionally assist physician with laser procedures and injections.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
