Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Des Moines, IA is seeking an experienced Floating Store Manager to oversee all store operations, supervise staff, drive sales, manage cash and inventory, and ensure adherence to safety and policy. You will partner with regional leadership to deliver strong customer service and community impact.

The role requires at least 2 years of staff management experience and a proven track record in retail management.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in staff management and development or a combination of education and experience.
• Proven retail management experience.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in cash handling and basic financial management.
• Valid driver''s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, and supervise store staff.
• Manage scheduling and payroll processing.
• Implement company policies in employee relations.
• Develop strategies to meet production and sales goals.
• Oversee donation processes, pricing and presentation.
• Manage store maintenance, safety, and appearance.
• Ensure OSHA and Salvation Army safety compliance.
• Create an enjoyable shopping environment.
• Develop customer retention plans.
• Set an example for positive customer interactions.
• Oversee cash handling procedures and daily deposits.
• Work within budget parameters.
• Manage inventory tracking for designated product lines.
• Provide daily reports on store production and sales.
• Address customer complaints and educate about the program.
• Recruit and interview store staff with Regional Manager.
• Provide personnel reviews and attendance oversight.
• Check time logs in compliance with regulations.
