Job summary

Dollar General in Richmond, VA is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, inventory control, stocking, and daily operations. This temporary role aims to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position and run for a limited period.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory accuracy, and cash handling while ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with store security, deposits and safety policies.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise as directed.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Serve as a role model by following company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate the store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
