Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. The role includes hiring, training, evaluating staff, and enforcing safety and cash controls.

You will drive performance by monitoring sales, profitability and inventory, while leading a team to deliver customer service and adherence to policies. High school diploma preferred; 1 year of retail management experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures store is adequately staffed and opened/closed consistently; meets staffing targets.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities for expense control, shrink, and errors.
• Reviews ordering plans and inventory management; follows up on Basic Stock Replenishment (BSR).
• Facilitates efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensures merchandise is presented according to established practices with proper pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, and cash handling controls.
