Job summary

Family Dollar in North Carolina is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, support customer service, and develop the store team. You will assist with merchandise flow, payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention, while upholding company policies and safety standards.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and hands-on supervision of store associates to maintain a friendly, efficient, and welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Retail store management experience in grocery or drug store environments is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical duties (walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Maintain store areas to company standards, including clean, well-stocked floors and stockrooms.
• Support in ordering merchandise and loss prevention activities.
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates; ensure a positive, safe work environment.
