Job summary

Family Dollar in Burlington, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with daily tasks, merchandise movement, and ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with responsibilities spanning payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention, while mentoring Store Associates to deliver excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred and expected to read and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as part of daily duties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged items, records (payroll, scheduling) and loss prevention.
• Maintain stocked, clean, and organized store areas per company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and store policies.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep bathrooms and store areas clean; restock as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
