Job summary

Arapahoe Basin, part of Alterra Mountain Company, is hiring a Retail Sales Agent. You’ll greet guests, advise on gear, and help them find products that fit their needs in a fast-paced, mountain environment.

You will handle POS transactions, restock inventory, and participate in sales contests, with 40% employee store discount and access to extensive resort perks. This seasonal, on-site role requires weekend and holiday availability and a willingness to work at altitude.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Arapahoe Sports team at Arapahoe Basin is fun-loving and thrives on giving each guest a day worth repeating. We aim to share our knowledge and love for the outdoors with our customers to help them find quality gear that fits their specific needs.

As a Retail Sales Agent, you are face-to-face with our customers and are there to ensure all of their needs are met while completing various tasks throughout the day. Retail Sales Agents strive to create a welcoming environment for all guests while providing knowledge of our products to make suggestions and ultimately sell the product that best fits guests needs.

Other duties of this role include checking in new inventory, restocking inventory, and operating a POS register system while handling cash. All retail agents receive 40% Off in the retail store and perks for certain sales contests.

This position does NOT come with employee housing.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high ends of Arapahoe Basin's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $20.00-22.00/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Assist guests in a timely and efficient manner with all types of retail purchases using knowledge of all retail items available for sale.


• Use POS system and cash-handling skills to complete retail transactions and refunds.


• Stock items daily throughout the store.


• Complete phone and online sales for customers.


• Process returns and exchanges following company policies.


• Follow all department sustainability guidelines as expected


• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous retail experience - preferred


• Reconcile a cash register using basic math and counting


• Excellent communication and customer service skills


• Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills


• Ability to multitask and work independently


• Must be available on weekends and holidays


• This position requires successful completion of a background check

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent - preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to withstand high-altitude conditions at all times


• Ability to stand and walk throughout a 9+ hour shift


• Ability to navigate stairs occasionally


• Use full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, push, pull and lift up to 30 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• You will work almost 100% of the time indoors in a high-altitude environment. Most work is performed in a highly trafficked area in view of guests. A very frequent amount of guest interaction is involved in this role. A small amount of time may be spent outside shoveling snow or removing ice.
