Job summary

The Lewis Group of Companies seeks a Vice President, Retail Project Development in Upland, CA to lead end-to-end retail project development from site acquisition through entitlement, design, construction, and turnover to property management. This on-site role reports to the Senior Vice President, Commercial Development and requires navigating public agencies and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in retail/commercial real estate development preferred.
• Experience with mid- to large-scale retail center development.
• Strong understanding of architectural and engineering plans.
• Knowledge of development budgeting and scheduling.
• Ability to use project management tools (MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore).
• Strong communication and presentation skills before public agencies, governing bodies, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead retail development opportunities aligned with ownership goals.
• Serve as primary development leader for assigned projects with cross‑department coordination.
• Oversee entitlement and public-agency approvals and prepare supporting documents.
• Manage permitting, plan checks, and development conditions.
• Coordinate dry utility relocations and related activities.
• Review tenant work letters and leases for development requirements.
• Monitor project cost reporting and budget variances.
• Collaborate with Lewis teams across departments and with joint venture partners.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in real estate development, architecture, construction, construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
