Job summary

Lewis Management Corp. is seeking a high‑level real estate leader to drive retail project development in Upland, CA.

You will manage opportunities from site acquisition through entitlement, design, construction, and turnover to property management, guiding multidisciplinary teams and navigating public approvals. The role requires 10+ years in retail development, strong PM skills, and the ability to coordinate across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate development, architecture, construction, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years experience in retail/commercial real estate development; mid- to large-scale centers preferred.
• Strong understanding of architectural and engineering plans.
• Knowledge of development budgeting and scheduling.
• Ability to use project management and construction tech (MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore).
• Strong communication and presentation skills for public agencies, governing bodies, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute retail development opportunities aligned with ownership goals.
• Serve as primary leader for assigned projects with multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead entitlement and public-agency approvals with city staff and governance bodies.
• Prepare and oversee applications, docs, plans, exhibits.
• Manage permitting, plan checks, development conditions, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Collaborate with land acquisition, consultants, and Lewis teams throughout development.
• Direct and review consultant work to keep projects coordinated and on schedule.
• Review tenant work letters and leases for development and construction needs.
• Oversee plan processing and construction-permit approvals.
• Coordinate dry utility relocations, contracts, and payments.
• Monitor monthly project cost reporting and respond to leadership on performance.
• Review development proformas for underwriting accuracy.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities with construction teams.
• Capture lessons learned for future development processes.
