Job Details

The Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient’s clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions and/or prescription plans. This position is compliance-critical and requires specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Pharmacy Hours of Operation:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
2. Entering necessary prescription plan information for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
3. Entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy system.
4. Addressing insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
5. Participating in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
6. Retrieving and preparing medication for pharmacist review and verification.
7. Preparing inventory reports for pharmacist review.
8. Submitting, receiving, and stocking inventory.
9. Answering inbound calls and triaging them appropriately.
10. Reviewing and handling adjudicated prescription claims for reimbursement accuracy and following up on inappropriate claims.
11. Providing information for therapeutic consultations with patients.
12. Intervening with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.

Education:

Typically requires at least two years of responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Certification as a pharmacy technician by a recognized national organization such as PTCB or equivalent is required. State certification is acceptable if it meets or exceeds national standards.
