Job summary

Dollar General Store in Oklahoma seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising and store operations. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is held for a limited period.

Assist with cashier controls, opening/closing duties and daily reporting, while ensuring customer service excellence in a fast-paced retail environment. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff.
• Knowledge of cash handling, inventory and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, expenses and shrinkage.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines.
