Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Oklahoma to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory management, and customer service leadership. This role focuses on developing external candidates for future Store Manager positions and is temporary.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and cash handling while upholding company policies and procedures. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE/STARS).
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices incl. compliance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking and pricing per manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds.
• Maintain cash control and security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
