Job summary

Abbode is a modern embroidery brand in New York, seeking an Assistant Store Manager who loves leading a team and delivering exceptional customer service. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to keep a busy store running smoothly, coach associates, and ensure personalized orders stay accurate and on track.

This hands-on role is on the sales floor, with responsibilities for coaching, sales support, and daily operations.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of retail experience, including 1 year in a leadership role such as keyholder or supervisor.
• Experience delivering excellent customer service and supporting sales goals.
• Ability to coach staff, delegate tasks, and resolve customer concerns.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, especially with custom orders.
• Calm, practical approach to busy periods and unexpected challenges.
• Comfort with retail POS systems; Shopify POS is a plus.
• Interest in design, gifting, and personalization; embroidery experience welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the sales floor: set daily priorities, coordinate breaks and floor coverage, and serve as manager on duty.
• Coach and develop the team: support onboarding and training, provide regular feedback, model service and product knowledge.
• Support sales performance: help the team meet store goals through thoughtful recommendations and relationships.
• Create a personalized customer experience: guide customers through products and embroidery options, set turnaround expectations.
• Coordinate custom orders: ensure personalization details are captured accurately and keep orders moving.
• Manage daily operations: support opening/closing, POS transactions, cash handling, and store procedures.
• Maintain store standards: keep displays, merchandise, and backstock organized, support replenishment and stock counts.
• Suggest workflow improvements: share feedback and partner with Store Manager to strengthen processes.
