Job summary

IKEA in Hicksville, NY is seeking a part-time associate to support store operations with a focus on product recovery and repurposing. The role involves repackaging, assembling, and presenting As-Is products with strong price/value messaging to maximize store sales and sustainability impact.

The position is 12-20 hours per week, with availability on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. The role offers health benefits and employee discounts along with a supportive, inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of retail experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of how to assemble IKEA furniture.
  • Knowledge of waste management and sustainability principles. Be able to inspect article items and determine what's the best way to recover and keep it going to landfill.
  • Attention to detail while multi-tasking is a must.
  • Ability and flexibility to shift focus easily.
  • Medium to high level of technology savviness using multiple systems in handheld devices, as well as computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Ability to self-start and have good and quick decision making.
  • Experience working in a customer and commercial-oriented business.
  • Must be able/comfortable to lift, push, and pull heavy objects up to 50-75lbs. or more.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to minimizing all internal damages or other costs related to IKEA products.
  • Take necessary action on products to give them a second chance, such as repackaging and assembly.
  • Present IKEA products in As-Is using a strong commercial expression, selling these products with pride and setting relevant prices that are attractive to customers yet still generate the best results for the store.
  • Support the quality work in the store in order to constantly improve customers' quality perception of IKEA products.
  • Always consider the sustainability impact when deciding when and how to recover products.
  • Contribute to an environment where IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

JOB TYPE – Permanent, Part-time

BENEFITS ELIGIBLE? Yes

HOURS – 12-20 hours per week. Must be able to work some weekdays and weeknights. Must have complete open working availability on Saturdays & Sundays between the hours of 9:00am-10:00pm.

The hourly pay rate range for this role is $19.91 - $28.12
