Job summary

Journeys, a Genesco brand, is seeking a District Sales Manager in Training to supervise retail store locations across the district and develop staff to meet performance goals. You will coach stores, drive sales, and ensure alignment with company policies in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include staffing, training, and evaluating teams, implementing loss-prevention practices, and traveling within the district to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of retail sales experience (preferred)
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Home store meets the Grand Open Ready criteria
• Valid state driver’s license
• Willingness to travel extensively within the district
• Proven ability to increase sales and profitability
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop high-caliber teams
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, fluid environment
• Completion of all training programs leading up to District Manager in Training or equivalent
• Ability to work night and weekend shifts
• Ability to climb, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Stand for long periods of time
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Achieve district sales goals and profitability targets while maintaining home store performance
• Support the DSM in evaluating people, performance, and developing action plans
• Staff stores within the district
• Manage Loss Prevention practices within the district
• Direct store operations and provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to all employees
• Ensure company initiatives are implemented per company direction
• Recruit, interview, and hire store management candidates as per Regional/DSM instructions
• Train, develop, and promote store employees within the district
• Regularly conduct store visits per Regional/DSM instructions
• Maintain communication with District Sales Manager, Regional, and corporate staff
