Job summary

Family Fare in Marshall, MI is seeking a department operations lead to manage daily store department activities, ensure staff coverage, training, and adherence to company standards and KPIs.

You will order and maintain inventory, verify orders, supervise stocking and production tasks, understand products, stay aligned with ad items and promotions, and help develop schedules and control payroll while upholding food safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred
• Spanish communication ability may be desirable depending on location

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day department operations in a retail store.
• Order and maintain inventory to ensure freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, and weight.
• Supervise a team for stocking, production, and related tasks.
• Maintain familiarity with store products and promotions.
• Implement scheduling, labor control, and payroll expense planning.
• Ensure food safety and general safety guidelines are followed.
• Attend daily huddles and meetings as required.
• Support department manager in staffing, training, and goal monitoring.
