Job summary

Family Fare in Byron Center, MI, is seeking a department operations lead to manage day-to-day store activities, train associates, ensure staffing, and hit company KPIs. You will own inventory, oversee order validation, and supervise stocking and production to maintain quality and freshness.

You will apply food safety and guest-experience guidelines, coordinate schedules and labor controls, and support management with forecasting and goal setting, in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands‑on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Order and maintain inventory in your department, ensuring freshness and quality.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition.
• Manage a team to complete stocking, production, and other tasks to ensure quality and rotation.
• Maintain familiarity with products in the department and store.
• Know ad items, special prices, coupon deals, and store rewards programs.
• Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan per guidelines.
• Follow scheduling tools to manage time and forecasted guidelines.
• Support scheduling, labor control, overtime control, and payroll expense.
• Implement Our Winning Recipe and model core values.
• Assist department manager with staffing, training, performance management, and development.
• Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
• Attend daily huddles and meetings as required.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, well-stocked department following Prime Time standards.
• Ensure food safety and general safety guidelines are followed; take corrective action.
• Support plan to meet company goals and KPIs.
• Follow PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning expectations.
• Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
