Job summary

Goodwill Industries SELA is seeking a Retail Associate in LaPlace, LA for a full-time, entry-level role in Retail Operations. You will handle cashier duties, backroom production, floor stocking, housekeeping and customer service.

You will greet donors, process donations, and assist customers while promoting the organization’s mission. Responsibilities include operating the cash register, pricing and displaying items, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean, safe store environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
• Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with store personnel while motivating them to their best performance.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including days, nights and weekends.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to use repetitive hand movement when buttoning, sorting, hanging and zipping garments.
• Must be able to engage in prolonged standing, walking and in frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
• Must have vision corrected to within normal limits.
• Must be able to function in a hectic work environment.
• Must have knowledge of men, women, and children clothing as well as furniture and household items.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register, receive payment for purchases and record sales.
• Sort and hang garments, price electrical equipment and small wares, and prepare display merchandise.
• Transfer merchandise from back room to sales floor and maintain a clean workstation.
• Restock garments and housewares on shelves and racks.
• Assist in security by monitoring customer activity and reporting suspicious behavior.
• Greet donors and assist them with donations and receipts, and provide general information.
• Follow company policies and safety procedures and attend regularly.
