Job summary

Goodwill Industries SELA on Lakeshore Dr in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Retail Associate for a full-time, entry-level role focused on supporting store operations, cash handling, backroom production, and customer service.

You will work with a team to maintain a clean, organized store, greet donors, and follow safety policies. A High School diploma is preferred but not required; comprehensive training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
• Must market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with store personnel while motivating them to their best performance.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including days, nights and weekends.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to engage in prolonged standing, walking and in frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register, receive payment for purchases and record sales and other transactions.
• Sort and hang garments, price electrical equipment and small wares, and prepare items for display.
• Move merchandise from back room to sales floor and maintain a clean workstation.
• Assist in keeping store areas clean and hazard-free; rotate store merchandise as directed.
• Greet donors and assist with bringing donations into the store; provide information to customers.
• Follow company policies and safety procedures; attend regular shifts.
