Job summary

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL, is seeking friendly, customer-service oriented individuals to join our gift shop team. You will greet visitors, assist with purchases, answer questions, and guide customers to products of interest.

Ideal candidates have retail experience, comfort with POS systems, and the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. This part-time role offers weekend shifts and an opportunity to work in a historic museum setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with POS systems preferred.

We're looking for customer service oriented, friendly faces to work in our gift shop!

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store & provide friendly customer service
• Guide and direct customers to appropriate products of interest and answer related inquiries
• Assist customers with all museum related inquiries
• Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
• Restock and maintain displays (labeling correctly as needed) per Company standards
• Participate in closing, opening procedures
• Contribute to a positive environment where all employees trust and respect each other

Position Requirements

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with others
• Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
• Dependable to always be on time and on schedule
• Able to lift frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Position also involves frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting and up to 8 hours per day on feet in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to handle general math
• Minimum 1 year retail sales experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience with POS systems preferred

Pay Range

$15/hour
