Job summary

Big Lots in Oldfield Addition, TN is seeking an Assistant Manager to deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager with daily operations and company deliverables. You will help hire, train, and develop the store team, manage merchandise flow, scheduling, and store safety, and ensure adherence to policies and high standards of presentation.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform extensive walking, standing, bending.
• Flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist in protecting and securing all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures including safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain all areas of the store to company standards including recovery.
• Direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not on site.
• Process all SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist Store Manager in management of freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist in ordering and stocking all merchandise needs.
• Assist in maintaining stockroom organization.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales effective daily.
• Plan and implement directives in the Store Operations Weekly Bulletin.
