Job summary

Big Lots is seeking an Assistant Manager to help deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager in running the store efficiently. You will help recruit, train, and develop team members while ensuring daily store operations meet company standards.

You will be responsible for opening/closing procedures in the manager's absence, safeguarding assets, and maintaining a high-energy, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer prior retail and management experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Physically able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, and bending.
• Willing to work a flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Experience in a fast-paced retail environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment for customers and colleagues.
• Ensure stockrooms and sales floors are maintained to company standards.
