Job summary

Citi Trends is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Illinois to support daily store operations, lead teams, and assist with staffing and development. You will collaborate with the Store Manager to drive sales, maintain operational standards, and ensure excellent customer service.

The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, flexibility to work evenings/weekends, and a focus on coaching and training store associates in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2–4 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or similar retail leadership role.
• 3–5 years of overall retail experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and people leadership skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, including percentages.
• Customer-focused execution and operational accountability.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Support daily store operations to meet sales goals and customer experience standards.
• Monitor sales activity and guide associates to deliver excellent service.
• Assist with inventory control, shrink prevention, and cash handling.
• Supervise and support store associates in sales, inventory, and customer service.
• Assist Store Manager with hiring, recruiting, onboarding, and training support.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support to associates.
• Maintain a safe, organized store environment and enforce policies.
