Job summary

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations of the Cincinnati store, working with the Retail Store Manager to ensure smooth performance from donation intake to customer sales.

You will supervise staff, train associates, and maintain a welcoming shopping environment while meeting budget goals and safety standards. Strong leadership and communication are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of progressive retail management experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail or equivalent industry.
• Experience selecting, assessing, coaching, and developing associates.
• Proficiency in setting and managing schedules for store staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Broad knowledge of thrift and resale industry and ability to react to competitive situations.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills including integrity and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and executes the overall operation of the retail store in partnership with the Retail Store Manager.
• Performs daily administrative/clerical functions of store operations such as cash transactions, ordering supplies, and opening/closing the stores.
• Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Assist in supervision and training of employees.
• Fulfill duties of all production and retail staff as needed (greeting donors, unloading donations, receipts, sorting items, cash handling, sales floor upkeep).
• Create an atmosphere of exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
• Monitor and enforce security and control procedures for donations and sales.
• Maintain staffing levels and train new associates per policy.
• Maintain neat, well-equipped store meeting budget requirements.
• Communicate effectively with other divisions and stores.
