Job summary

America's Thrift Stores seeks a Retail Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in daily store operations, lead and train team members, uphold company values, and drive profitability and community impact.

You will recruit, train, coach, manage inventory and loss prevention, ensure excellent customer service, manage cash handling, and collaborate with HR on staff development and compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in retail management, logistics, or operations.
• Strong leadership and ability to motivate staff.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with POS systems.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Successful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing store team members, including supervisors and stock associates.
• Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and development plans to enhance team productivity.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and growth.
• Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and training employees.
• Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Build relationships with customers and the local community to drive loyalty and repeat business.
• Support sales targets by optimizing merchandising and upselling opportunities.
• Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing and maintaining a clean, organized store.
• Manage inventory control, product quality, and loss prevention to minimize shrinkage.
• Ensure accuracy in cash handling, deposits, and financial reporting.
• Enforce policies and safety regulations with regular audits.
