Job summary

Big Lots in Port Huron, MI is seeking an Assistant Manager to deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager in daily store operations. You will help hire, train, and develop the store team while ensuring policies, safety, and asset protection are followed.

The role requires ability to lead during shifts, manage stockroom and sales floor standards, and maintain a positive environment for customers and staff. Prior retail/management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist in protecting company assets, including store cash.
• Maintain a professional, friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery.
• Direct hourly team members in the Store Manager's absence.
• Process SSC Corporate directives and directives in weekly bulletins.
• Assist with receipt/return of merchandise and freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards and stock merchandise as needed.
