Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, deliver excellent customer service, and help develop the store team in Elizabeth, NJ. You will assist with merchandise handling, opening/closing, and ensuring all policies are followed.

You will work in a fast-paced retail environment, train and supervise Store Associates, maintain clean, organized sales floor and stockroom, and help implement corporate directives and loss prevention practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store operations and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain store areas, fixtures, and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and processing damaged goods.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates.
• Keep store clean and organized and ensure policy compliance.
