Job summary

JCPenney is seeking a dedicated Asset Protection professional to observe and document suspicious activity, conduct interviews, and lead investigations into theft and fraud across stores. You will collect evidence, report findings, and support leadership in maintaining a secure retail environment.

The role involves traveling to designated stores, coordinating with law enforcement when required, and ensuring proper documentation of all stages of investigations.

Qualifications

• 1+ years retail work experience or Asset Protection/Security preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity; collects investigative evidence using CCTV and store observations.
• Executes required Company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft and properly documents all stages.
• Conducts external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft.
• Reports suspected fraud (credit/check and refund fraud) and policy infractions to AP/store leadership.
• Creates and manages records for reporting apprehension, witness statements, retention of evidence, and disposition of recovered merchandise.
• Travel to stores as necessary and attend court hearings as required.
• Assists with incident investigations and completes associated reports.
