Job summary

Debevoise & Plimpton, a leading international law firm in New York, seeks an associate for its Restructuring & Leveraged Finance practice. The role focuses on advising private equity sponsors, lenders, and corporate clients across financing and distressed transactions.

  • Support execution of leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and refinancings.
  • Assist on Chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders including financial advisors and investment professionals.
  • Manage transaction timelines and contribute to client-facing strategy discussions.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have experience in leveraged finance, restructuring, or a combination of both, and will play a key role advising private equity sponsors, lenders, and corporate clients on a broad range of financing and distressed transactions.

This role offers exposure to:
  • Complex leveraged and acquisition financings
  • Distressed debt and special situations
  • In-court and out-of-court restructurings

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Admission to the New York Bar (or eligibility required)
