Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools seeks a Restorative Practices Coach to support restorative practices, MTSS, SEL, and PBIS within middle and high schools. The role focuses on reducing suspensions and building a positive climate through equity-centered strategies and staff support.

The RP Coach will work with staff and students, provide interventions in reset/restoration spaces, and monitor progress through defined KPIs and collaboration with principals. Ten-month schedule; exempt status.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Some college coursework in education, psychology, or related fields (preferred).
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels within the school community.
• Excellent people skills and ability to build relationships with staff, community partners, and parents.
• Demonstrates knowledge of youth development and ability to work with at-risk students.
• Organize, prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills: oral, written, interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, provides, and supervises instructional and behavioral activities for students in reset/restoration spaces.
• Coordinate assignments with teachers and monitor student work in reset rooms.
• Assist students in examining misbehavior and developing prevention strategies.
• Support implementation of equity-centered classroom strategies, restorative practices, PBIS, and SEL.
• Consult with Principals and staff on behavioral expectations and needs.
• Coordinate conferences with families to review performance and behavior.
• Attend meetings and trainings to maintain professional competence.
• Maintain accurate student records as required.
