Job summary

West Bay RI is seeking Direct Support Professionals for Specialized Supports in Coventry and Johnston, RI. This role delivers restorative and rehabilitative services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community-based settings, implementing behavioral health care plans and promoting independence and social integration.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience; safety certification preferred.

Qualifications

Understanding of intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring emotional/mental health needs.
Ability to monitor, document, and communicate progress clearly and professionally.
Positive, caring demeanor with strong teamwork and role-model behavior.

Responsibilities

Deliver restorative and rehabilitative services per individual care plans.
Provide motivating, consistent, respectful support to build strong relationships.
Use crisis intervention skills to support during challenging moments.
Collaborate with clinical staff to enhance daily routines and life skills (nutrition, employment/volunteer opportunities, social/relationship development, personal care, medication administration).
Maintain a safe, healthy environment that promotes growth and autonomy.
