Job summary

WestBayRI is seeking a Direct Support Specialist to help individuals with IDD in homes and communities. You will assist with daily living, health maintenance, and community participation, while supporting goals and independence.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and 2-3 years of relevant experience. The schedule is full-time (35 hours/week) across Cranston, Johnston, and Warwick, RI.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in direct support or related human services role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, compassionate, and respectful.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with activities of daily living including personal care and health maintenance.
• Support individuals in making informed decisions and achieving personal goals.
• Promote independence, self-advocacy, and natural supports.
• Encourage community participation and meaningful relationships.
• Follow individualized care plans and procedures, including medication administration as required.
• Monitor, document, and report individuals’ progress and needs.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment and work with families and community partners.
• Support individuals across homes and community settings.
