Job summary

West Bay RI is seeking an Employment Specialist to help individuals with IDD discover their strengths and pursue meaningful employment in the community. The role focuses on career exploration, skill-building, and relationship-building with employers to create integrated job opportunities.

The position emphasizes a person-centered approach, ongoing job coaching, and support for independence, workplace success, and long-term retention in competitive employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate Degree preferred in special education, psychology or related field.
• Minimum of a High school diploma or GED.
• ACRE Certification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Explore interests, strengths, abilities, preferences, and career goals through interviews, observation, assessments, and hands-on experiences.
• Identify skills, support needs, barriers, and accommodations for workplace success.
• Prepare individuals for employment by building skills related to workplace expectations, routines, communication, interviewing, and professionalism.
• Provide opportunities to develop workplace skills through volunteering, work trials, on-the-job training, and community experiences.
• Identify and develop employment opportunities aligned with each individual's goals and build relationships with employers and partners.
