Do you enjoy serving fellow Hokies and fans? The Inn at Virginia Tech is seeking motivated, engaging individuals to join Preston’s Restaurant as Servers. This position offers potential for excellent tips!

We have full- and part-time positions available for AM & PM Servers.

The pay rate is $3.09/hour plus tips. Training is paid at $15/hour.

Overview

The Restaurant Server will take food and beverage orders, serve beverages and food, collect payments, and assist in maintaining the restaurant area and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues.
• Process payments and handle orders.
• Prepare checks, take orders, and serve food and drinks.
• Check IDs for alcohol service.
• Clean and set up tables and service areas.
• Inform customers of specials and menu items.
• Assist with food preparation and garnishing.
• Perform cleaning duties and restock supplies.
• Greet and seat guests, answer phones, and handle reservations.
• Provide information about local areas and services.

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Good English skills and guest relations experience.
• Certification in liquor, wine, and food service preferred.
• Must be TIPS, CARE, or equivalent certified by first day.
• Ability to use property management and POS systems.
