Overview

The Restaurant Server will take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. He/she will collect payments and assist in maintaining the Restaurant area and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Check with customers to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues.
  2. Collect payments from customers.
  3. Write patrons' food orders on slips, memorize, or enter into a computer system for kitchen transmission.
  4. Prepare checks itemizing meal costs and taxes.
  5. Take orders from patrons for food or beverages.
  6. Verify patrons' age for alcoholic beverage service.
  7. Serve food or beverages, and prepare or serve specialty dishes as required.
  8. Present menus, answer questions, and make recommendations.
  9. Clean tables after dining.
  10. Prepare drinks and chill wine bottles.
  11. Set up tables and service areas for shifts or large parties.
  12. Inform customers of specials.
  13. Stock supplies in service areas.
  14. Explain menu items and ingredients.
  15. Set up tables with linens, silverware, and glassware.
  16. Clear dishes and glasses to the kitchen.
  17. Assist with reservations, greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
  18. Perform cleaning duties as needed.
  19. Serve wine with appropriate glasses and pour.
  20. Prepare salads, appetizers, desserts, and brew coffee.
  21. Escort customers to tables.
  22. Garnish and decorate dishes.
  23. Fill condiment containers.
  24. Describe and recommend wines.
  25. Provide local area information and directions.

Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Good understanding of English and guest relations experience.
  3. Certification in liquor, wine, and food service preferred.
  4. Must be TIPS, CARE, or equivalent certified by first day.
  5. Ability to use property management and POS systems.
