Job description

Chef Andrew Carmellini is seeking a RESTAURANT MANAGER to join the team at The Fifth Avenue Hotel.

Café Carmellini is the signature restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini. This restaurant marks his return to fine dining, blending his 30-year NYC culinary career into an extraordinary experience. The cuisine marries Italian and French influences with a classic New York vibe and a modern touch.

The menu draws inspiration from various sources, including the city of New York and Chef Carmellini’s family history in hospitality and food, with a nod to his family’s coffee importing business in Tuscany. Dishes range from reimagined classics to innovative creations, highlighting seasonal ingredients.

The wine program, curated by Master Sommelier Josh Nadel, features a comprehensive 1,800-bottle list from Italy, France, the U.S., and beyond. The restaurant’s design combines neoclassical architecture with maximalist style, exuding Old New York elegance. It offers a welcoming kitchen, an intimate bar, an extraordinary dining room with sculptural trees, curated art, and balconies for tête-à-tête dining with views of the lively atmosphere.

Ideal candidates possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in fine dining establishments
  • A warm and gracious outlook, capable of creating stellar guest experiences
  • A professional and polished leadership style
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, with a team-oriented mentality
  • The ability to lead a team effectively in a busy environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with OpenTable and Salido is a plus
  • DOH Food Protection certification
