Responsibilities of the Restaurant General Manager

  • Work a 50+ hour week, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Develop and maintain positive public relations with community organizations and the public.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and the Home Office on operations and policies.
  • Hire staff and plan work schedules to ensure efficient restaurant operation.
  • Supervise staff to ensure quality service, product standards, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Provide on-the-job training using company tools.
  • Manage financial controls, including cash handling, profit and loss, and budgeting.
  • Address customer complaints tactfully to ensure satisfaction.
  • Evaluate staff performance and recognize achievements.
  • Forecast sales and expenses to set realistic profit goals.
  • Make personnel decisions and handle employee relations professionally.
  • Maintain records and reports as required by law and company policy.
  • Mentor Assistant Managers and Trainees for growth.
  • Ensure a safe environment for everyone.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
