Job summary

Promise Resource Network is seeking a Respite Peer Support Specialist I in Davidson, NC. This full-time role provides trauma-sensitive peer support within the Respite program, offering advocacy, connections to local resources, housing and benefits assistance, and group and one-on-one support.

You will work as part of the Respite team, coordinating with the Bridger to support recovery, uphold trauma-informed care, and help guests navigate crises and daily wellness activities.

Qualifications

• Current NC Certified Peer Support Specialist or eligible to become certified within 6 months
• Lived experience with substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges
• Commitment to peer support philosophy and recovery values
• Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring to grow skills
• Demonstrates leadership and teamwork values
• Reliable, honest, and ethical
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Ability to interact effectively with the public, providers, and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Share personal experience to encourage mental health wellness and recovery
• Assist in connection with mental health services and community resources
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and related practices
• Maintain a clean, safe environment including duties as assigned
• Manage downtime with guests focusing on wellness and recovery activities
• Collaborate with Respite team and communicate clearly with colleagues
• Provide peer support to guests throughout all stages of their stay
• Contribute to a healing, bed-and-breakfast-like environment
• Support recovery beliefs and peer support philosophy
• Identify and respond to crises appropriately and escalate when needed
• Engage in self-reflection, feedback, and skill growth
• Documentation, tracking, and reporting as required
• Support overall duties as assigned by leadership
