Job summary

Mercy Health in Defiance, OH seeks an experienced Manager of Respiratory Therapy to lead operations, staffing, and compliance for the Defiance Hospital respiratory services. You will drive clinical excellence and ensure high-quality patient care across shifts.

You will supervise staff, develop policies, participate in quality improvement, and uphold regulatory standards including NBRC, RRT, and state licensure requirements. Leadership, collaboration, and staff development are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree related to Respiratory Therapy/Healthcare Admin preferred.
Master's Degree related to Healthcare Admin/Business Admin preferred.
Doctorate related to Healthcare Admin/Business Admin preferred.
Current Respiratory Care License in the state they are working (required).
NBRC Credentialed (required).
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (required).
ACLS/PALS knowledge or certifications (required).
NRP (preferred) and CPFT/RPFT/ACCS (preferred).

Responsibilities

Ensures 24-hour respiratory care coverage for patient care areas and needs.
Interviewing/selecting/hiring staff, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling.
Creates and maintains a motivational and supportive working environment for staff.
Develops department policies, procedures, and safety initiatives; supports strategic plans.
Demonstrates a strong customer-driven approach in management of areas.
Participates in facility councils and committees.
Provides clinical instruction/in-service training to staff and students.
Supports and assists team with RRT duties as needed.
