Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital - Birmingham is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Manager to lead therapy department operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide staff development. You will oversee scheduling, patient care quality, and collaboration with physicians to optimize weaning from ventilation.

The role requires an active RRT, state license, and supervisory experience in an acute care setting; a sign-on bonus is offered and a strong focus on teamwork and patient outcomes is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Minimum state license and NBRC RRT credential.
• BLS required by start date; ACLS within 6 months.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in acute care respiratory therapy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the respiratory therapy department.
• Lead recruitment, interviews, orientation, and performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and care policies.
• Create and maintain clinical scheduling for safe staffing.
• Coordinate Wean Team and pulmonary rounds; liaison with physicians.
• Promote staff development and quality improvement.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Maintain competency in rapid response and code events.
• Site-dependent: function as Moderate Complexity Lab Manager and Safety Officer.
