Job summary

Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care for adults and neonates. The role involves ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance under indirect supervision of the medical director.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, current BLS and ACLS, Texas license, NBRC registration, and a minimum of 6 months of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license in good standing as Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of medical records.
• Perform actions using critical thinking skills.
• Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFTs when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate customer scripting as evidenced by observation and improved patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

NRP / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year

Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care

6 months respiratory care experience
