Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for adults and neonates, under supervision of the medical director. Responsibilities include ABG, PFT, ventilator support, and respiratory care equipment management.

The role requires graduating from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, Texas licensure, NBRC registration, and current BLS/ACLS with within-1-year NRP/PALS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board and Registered by NBRC.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutic procedures including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, bronchial hygiene and airway maintenance.
• Performs arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms as prescribed.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data to inform care.
• Operates, checks, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment and maintains a safe patient environment.
