Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center, part of Methodist Health System, seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide oxygen therapy, ventilation support, ABG and PFT services for adults and neonates. You will operate and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment and participate in infection control and safety programs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support - must obtain within 1 year of hire.
• Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance and chest physiotherapy.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardio-pulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and chart review.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets chest X-ray, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Maintains and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Utilizes customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other job duties as required.
