Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, and diagnostic support for patients from neonatal to geriatric levels. You will operate RT-CRT setups, report ABGs, and assist with ventilation and airway management under physician orders.

Required credentials include an active Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana, NBRC-registered RT, and BLS; ACLS within 90 days of hire. A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current license as a Respiratory Therapist in state of practice.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist and BLS; ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and data entry.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on age, safety and related criteria.
• Adapts behavior to the patient population and maintains privacy.
