Job summary

Ochsner Health System in Louisiana is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide RT care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing and ventilation support for neonatal to geriatric patients. The RT-CRT sets up, monitors, and reports ABGs; delivers intermittent therapy and assists with airway management.

The position requires an Associate's degree, an active Respiratory Therapist license in the state, NBRC Registered status, and BLS; ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of practice.
• NBRC certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS certification required by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on age-specific criteria and patient population.
• Adapts communication and approach to the patient’s needs and consent.
