Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for 4 days per week with day shifts, including some weekends. The role requires an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT preferred) and NBRC‑certified RRT licensure.

Expect to administer and monitor oxygen therapy and ventilator support, document thoroughly, and collaborate with the care team. The position is part-time with 12-hour day shifts; licensure, strong communication, and adherence to PHI regulations are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required.
• BSRT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and associated equipment and conducts prescribed procedures.
• Administers therapies, understands purpose/benefits and potential effects; performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations on care plans and patient education.
• Documents therapy results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Performs and evaluates blood sampling; understands values and treatments of abnormal results.
• Works independently in all patient care areas and uses EMR interfaces in Respiratory Care.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements and proficiency evaluations.
