Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Per Diem Level 2 role covering nights at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. The position includes a 73-110 hour per 6‑week schedule, with shifts 7:00pm–7:30am, including weekend shifts and a major holiday in the first and last six months.

Per diem pay is $33.16–$49.74 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC) is required.
• State licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner within six months of employment is required.
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association is required.
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS must be completed within 24 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists Physicians with Respiratory Therapy procedures as requested.
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered.
• Assess patients to determine the most suitable method of administering treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe orders.
• Communicate treatment to patients and families clearly.
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy, with focus on pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide patient and staff education.

Education

Hourly Pay Range: $33.16 - $49.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL

Per Diem Commitment Level 2: 73-110 hours per 6-week schedule

Hours: Shifts will vary Monday-Friday from 7:00pm-7:30am. With a minimum of 2 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period and one major holiday in first and last 6 months of year, required.

What you will do

• Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures
• Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need

• Education: Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required.
• License/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment required.
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 24 months of employment, required.
