Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking Respiratory Therapists for a range of hospital locations in Illinois. This evergreen opportunity allows applying once to be considered for current and future openings.

Eligible for sign-on bonuses up to $25,000 for full-time nights and $10,000 for full-time days and evenings. Locations include Arlington Heights, Skokie, Evanston, Highland Park, Chicago, Naperville, and Elmhurst with flexible full-time, part-time, or PRN shifts (8- or 12-hour options)

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry-eligible status.
• Illinois licensure required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians.
• Assess patients to determine the most suitable method of administering treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities; transcribe orders.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly to patient and family.
• Monitor patient response to therapy, including pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide education to patients and staff.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range: $33.16 - $49.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

• Full-time, part-time, or PRN (8 and 12-hour shift options)

What you will do:

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need:

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status
• State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
