Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking Respiratory Therapists across multiple hospital sites in Illinois. The position offers hourly pay with a bonus potential and flexible shift options, including days, evenings, nights, and PRN. Sign-on bonus potential exists for full-time roles.

We hire across locations such as Evanston and other hospital sites, with full-time, part-time, and PRN shifts. If selected for an interview, you’ll share your location and shift preferences.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program (CoARC).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry-eligible status.
• Illinois licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner within six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians and hospital policy.
• Assess patients to determine the most suitable method of administering treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities; transcribe orders as needed.
• Communicate treatment being performed clearly to patient and family.
• Monitor patient response to therapy with emphasis on pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide patient and staff education.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range: $33.16 - $49.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

This application is an evergreen opportunity, which means by applying once, you'll be considered for current and future Respiratory Therapist openings across our various hospital locations.

Sign-on bonus potential up to $25,000 for full-time nights and $10,000 for full-time days and evenings!

• Full-time, part-time, or PRN (8 and 12-hour shift options)
• Day, evening, and overnight shifts

What you will do:

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need:

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status
• State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
